Category: Collection 1 Bardy Road, Warren, NJ 07059 The Somerset County Household Hazardous Waste Collection Program gives residents and farmers a legal and cost-free way to dispose of unwanted household items that cannot be disposed of in the regular trash. This drop-off opportunity is for residents only. Five events are held annually at various locations around the county from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. to enable residents to take advantage of the program. Proof of Somerset County residency is required; (current driver's license, valid lease, tax bill or any other bill with a Somerset County address). Pre-registration is not required. No businesses allowed. Adherence to social distancing guidelines is required. Residents must wear facial coverings, stay in their vehicles with the windows rolled up and store hazardous materials in trunks, cargo areas or truck beds. Household hazardous waste in the original, labeled containers includes banned or outdated pesticides, auto products (10 gallon maximum; antifreeze, transmission fluid, brake fluids) wet-cell car batteries, motor oil, used oil filters, fluorescent tubes and compact fluorescent lights, ammonia-based cleaners, gasoline, kerosene, mercury switches, mercury, fire extinguishers, used cooking oil, latex and oil-based paints, pool chemicals, barbecue propane tanks and rechargeable and button-cell batteries (each battery must be bagged by itself or tape each terminal end prior to transport). Somerset County Sheriff Darrin Russo and the Somerset County Solid Waste Management Division invite county residents to take advantage of the RxMission Drive-In/Drop-Off medicine-collection program, which is held in conjunction with scheduled Household Hazardous Waste drop-off events, rain or shine. Residents can drop off medications at as many of the Household Hazardous Waste drop-off events as they wish to safely dispose of unwanted or outdated prescription drugs and over-the-counter medications from their homes. Sheriff's officers are on hand to accept the medications.
