Cannabis Survey

Background

In November 2020 New Jersey voters approved ballot question #1 to allow adult consumption of cannabis, which includes marijuana & hemp. The referendum passed with 67% voting yes state-wide. North Plainfield voters passed it with 69% yes votes.

The legislation signed by Governor Murphy in February 2021 establishes six licenses of cannabis businesses for: cultivation (growing), manufacturing, wholesale, distribution, retail and delivery. Retail is the only license that may sell directly to consumers.

North Plainfield Borough Council Survey

To seek community input, the borough council conducted a survey of residents from June 8-14, 2021. Survey results were reported at the June 14, 2021 council meeting. View survey results
